Veil
Privacy
Last updated: July 2026
VEIL's founding premise is identity protection. That starts with how we treat yours.
What we collect
- If you claim an artist name: the artist name and your email address.
- If you sign up for listener updates: your email address.
- For both: how you arrived (the campaign link you clicked, referring page, country) and, if you answer it, one optional question about where your artist publishes today.
- We use privacy-focused analytics (Umami) to count visits and clicks. No advertising trackers, no fingerprinting, no data sold or shared with anyone. Ever.
Why we collect it
- To reserve your artist name and hold it for you.
- To send you one email when VEIL opens. That's the promise on the form, and it's literal.
- To understand which communities our founding artists come from.
Legal basis
Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) — you give it by submitting a form. You can withdraw it at any time.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Cloudflare (our hosting and database provider). It is not transferred to anyone else.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, portability — email hello@veil.place and it's done. Deleting your data releases your claimed name.
Retention
If VEIL launches, your claim carries into your account. If we shut the project down instead, all sign-up data is deleted.
Name policy
Claimed names are unique on VEIL. Names that impersonate existing artists or bands will be released — impersonation is the opposite of what this place is for.
